Magic is quite unlike any other Skill, as it focuses more on gameplay modification than crafting or gathering items.

However, there are still a few items that need to be created to use Magic:

Blank Spellbooks are the base item used to craft a viable Spellbook. They can be crafted at a Crafting Table by combining a book & quill with a piece of lapis lazuli.

Crafting Spellbooks requires a workstation called the Arcane Altar, which can be built as such:

In addition to a Spellbook, using Magic requires either a Wand or Staff.

• Wands cast spells faster, but with less power.
• Staves take longer to cast, but produce more powerful spells.

Wand recipe - has iron nugget as hilt.

Staff recipe - has gold nugget as hilt.

To cast a spell, hold your Wand or Staff in your off-hand, and your Spellbook in your main hand. Then simply right-click to cast.

To learn the details of the Magic skill, complete the quest “Apprentice Mage” from Archmage Rholla in New Nauru, or an Archmage citizen in one of your Towns!

This is an example of the Arcane Alter crafting menu. You will learn from Archmage Rholla, that there is an important pattern to creating a spell. Pay close attention to the colors of the arcane words.

Also note that each player has unique words. So while you can give another player your Spellbook to use, they won’t be able to recreate it based off of the words you used.

After speaking to Archmage Rholla, you will discover the following rules for words in a spell:

1. Red - dictates Attribute (wind, earth, fire, light, dark, death, arcane, water, or life)
2. Green - dictates Action (buff, debuff, damage, passive, summon, or special)
3. Blue - dictates Target (self, AoE, projectile, seeking projectile, or projectile splash)
4. Yellow - Augments spells in various ways
